Why Engine Light on and Fuel Gauge Reads Empty

Fuel estimate reading stuck on empty
I have been reading a few posts where this seems to be an issue w/ alot of folks that the fuel gauge is reading incorectly ot not at all.
The B5 threads accept a DIY on the fuel level replacement and im assuming our is near the aforementioned.
My son left the LCD's on and my battery went dead over night. After I got it started is when I noticed the estimate not reading. I am only sixteen miles into a total tank. Collection for about an hr and still no alter. Turned the car on and off a few times and withal no change. I fifty-fifty ran my VAG and didnt meet any faults anywhere.
Questions...
i. Other than the dealer, where tin can this be purchased and at what toll?
2. How is the replacement on the level sensor compared to the B5 write up?

No need to replace annihilation just however, it will probably reset itself over a tank of fuel.
This happened to me a number of times when I asunder my battery. IIRC, I refueled right away thinking I had actually run out of fuel. The gauge read most 1/3 when I had filled it up. It was a day later or so and it somehow reset itself with no intervention on my part.

Ok thats adept to know. I got a story though. Running late and saw the needle on empty, lights blinking and all. Got to the gas station and started to make full. Pump kept shutting off like I was full and so I swear almost a 1/two gallon spewed out because I kept topping off thinking WTF is incorrect with this pump!
I then realized I had filled up before the weekend started and havent collection the Avant since I filled upward.
Ok, im gonna go burn down off this tank in a couple days and let you lot know how it goes.

Well the same affair happened to me not too long ago and all I needed to do was supplant the bombardment and everything went dorsum to normal. IIRC y'all just bought a new bombardment so that's probably not the case (although my bombardment was only a few months old..), unless you're getting some serious describe from somewhere. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a bit then reconnecting to see if it works? If that doesn't work and it doesn't reset afterwards a while I'd check the bombardment and maybe even replace it before doing anything with the fuel organisation. good luck.

Got it working over again! Merely pulled the battery and re-connected.

i'm havin the same trouble. not because of a dead battery though. i think it'south because gas is like close to $iv a gallon and i tin't afford to fill it up by the empty mark

That did not work out so well. I idea I could become a close trade for my B6 but the dealership that had the B5 S4 Avant wanted 18 and would only give me 9K on my B6.
Too my financial state of affairs has inverse and I cancelled my 335 society. After my re-fi on my house, I finished up my back chiliad, added more real estate to the belongings, and paid off all high interest CC's. Additionally, I lost 3/4 of my business/task

I'thou having the same problem later I disconnected my battery. I simply figured I blew a fuse or something and haven't done anything about information technology yet. Approximate I'll try disconnecting the battery once again.

Yeah, if you lot disconnect the battery or take a depression battery, the gauge cluster goes haywire.
It volition somewhen prepare it self...you tin can disconnect the battery once more to trick it back into service or you can scan the cluster with a VAG-COM and reset information technology.
